The Channel area, south of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, is bordered by the waterways of the D'Entrecasteaux Channel and the hills, pastures and native bush of the coastline.  The country is rich in the history of timber-getting, fishing, fruit farming, boat building and shipping.

The Historical and Folk Museum preserves and promotes the heritage of the Channel.  The museum complex is set in spacious gardens, just south of Snug, an easy 25 minutes drive from Hobart.  The Museum complex consists of:
bullet The Waldie-Allport Pavilion 
bullet Three recreated colonial-style rooms 
bullet  Museum library & research facilities
bullet  Beautiful gardens that are perfect for picnics
